Igor Mołodecki


Born in 1959. A screenwriter and film director. He graduated in film studies from the Jagiellonian University and in directing from the Television and Film Department in Katowice. He made numerous documentaries, short films and television theatre performances. His graduation film, a nostalgic Ballada o smutnym malarzu won the Andrzej Munk prize, which is awarded for best debuts by lecturers of the National Film, Television & Theatre School in Łódź. His feature for children Where Are You Santa Claus? won Golden Goats at the International Young Audience Film Festival in Poznań in 1997. The film which became embedded in the memory of viewers and jury members of the Cracow Film Festival was Zakazana miłość, in which the director showed affection growing between two patients of a psychiatric hospital. Igor Mołodecki, besides making films, conducts also film workshops for young people. He cooperates with the Youth Centre in Poznań and with "U Siemachy" Association in Cracow. Recently, in order to become fully independent, he has founded his own production company, ITM FILM, where he has made a number of other films, including Indian Time about Poles fascinated with the culture of North American Indians.
