Jaques-Rémy Girerd



Jacques-Rémy Girerd was born in Mars in 1952. He studied medicine which he quit in 1974 to enroll in the Academy of Fine Arts in Lyon. In the years 1978-1988 he made short films based on animating Plasticine figures. In 1984, together with some colleagues, he founded Folimage Studios. In 1988, his film Le petit cirque de toutes les couleurs (1986) won a César Award for best animated film. He made about one hundred animated films of which the following deserve special attention: La rage du désert (1988), Le bonheur de la vie (1992), Mine de rien (1994), Ma petite planéte chérie (1996) and the winner of Poznañ Goats, Charlie’s Christmas (L’enfant au gelot, 1998). In 2003, he directed a full-length animation - Raining Cats and Frogs.
