Wojciech Kuczok
Born in Chorzów in 1972. A prose writer, poet, screenwriter and film critic. He graduated from Stefan Batory Secondary School no. 3 in Chorzów and then from the University of Silesia. He has written for the weekly
Tygodnik Powszechny, quarterly magazine
Res Publica Nowa and monthly film journal
Kino. He is currently a PhD student in film studies at Jagiellonian University in Cracow. In 1990s he was a member of a poetry group "Na Dziko". He also wrote a novel
Gnój, which received Passport award of the
Polityka monthly in 2003, Nike Literary Award and the Cracow Book of the Month award in 2004. Moreover, he authored a screenplay for the film
Pręgi by Magdalena Piekorz, which won Golden Lions at the 2004 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
